Hougomont Hotel, Fremantle Western Australia
37 single and 2 module compact hotel rooms
Manufactured in Thailand
Type 3 building 90/90/90 frl
Completed as the first stage of a fairly complex project that saw the fusion of site built construction with modular construction.
Especially challenging were the complexities of joining old to new in a very space restrictive site.
Althought designed at the client's request to look like a series of shipping containers, the modules are anything but.
Each module is built from scratch 3 metres wide and 12- 13 metres long. All fabricated new with nearly 5000kg of steel alone in each module.
A steel framed 4 storey structure, this building uses lightweight concrete floor panels, trickle ventilation system, marble floor and wall tiling and full height glass bathroom walls; all completed prior to delivery.
Rubber acoustic isolating mounts assist with the acoustic isolation issues.
The team from Modular Concepts were engaged by the client to assist with design, procurement and supervision of module construction in Thailand. Following this we organised shipping, packing and delivery and followed the units to their destination where we helped coordinate installation of modules.
